Six Assam Police personnel martyred on July 26 to be honoured with CM medals; SP Nimbalkar to receive "Outstanding Service" Medal

On the occasion of 75th Independence Day on August 15, the Government of Assam’s Home Department has decided to honour the police personnel of the state for their distinguished service. On Sunday, the Governor of Assam will confer with the Chief Minister’s Police Medal to the following police officers of the Assam Police in different categories.

Chief Minister’s Special Service Medal in a Crisis Situation will be handed over to the family members of the six Assam Police Personnel who were martyred in the clash against Mizo Forces on July 26 in Cachar district’s Lailapur area.

A. Chief Minister’s Special Service Medal in a Crisis situation (Posthumously):

1. Late SI (AB) Swapan Kumar Roy, 21st AP (IR) Battalion, Katlicherra, Hailakandi.

2. Late Havildar Shyam Sundar Dusad, 6th AP Battalion, Kathal, Cachar.

3. Late ABC-114 Samsuzzaman Barbhuiya, 21st AP (IR) Battalion, Katlicherra, Hailakandi.

4. Late ABC-485 Liton Suklabaidya, Cachar DEF.

5. Late UBC-200 Mazrul Hoque Barbhuiya, Cachar DEF.

6. Late Constable-911 Nazmul Hussain, 6th AP Battalion, Kathal, Cachar.

The order issued by the government of Assam informs that former Cachar SP, Vaibhav Chandrakant Nimbalkar, who is still admitted to the hospital in Mumbai is among the five officials who will receive Chief Minister’s Outstanding Service Medal. He was shot by the Mizo Forces on July 26.

B. Chief Minister’s Outstanding Service Medal:

1. Sri Nimbalkar Vaibhav Chandrakant, IPS

2. Sri Mukul Kakoti, Inspector (UB), Police Commissioner’s Office, Guwahati.

3. Sri Satyen Singh Hajari, Inspector (UB), Biswanath District.

4. St (UB), Mwblik Brahma, O/C Khatkhati, P.S – Karbi Anglong DEF.

5. Sri Borsingh Bey, Constable, Karbi Anglong.

“With a great sense of pride, I present to you the list of recipients of Chief Minister’s Police medal to 10 outstanding policemen, on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence day celebration,” announced DGP Assam Police, Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta.

He added, “The medals include ‘Special Service Medals in crisis situations’ given posthumously, & ‘Outstanding Service Medals’. Congratulations to the worthy recipients & their families! Our gratitude towards Honourable Chief Minister for this grand recognition and honour.”
