Dr. Lakhan Das tests positive for COVID19, admitted to hospital in Silchar

One of the most renowned doctors in South Assam, Kumar Kanti Das popularly known as Lakhan Das has tested positive for COVID19. He has been admitted to Green Heals Hospital in Meherpur, Silchar.

On September 4, he got his RTPCR report, following which, he decided to get himself admitted to the hospital. “Apart from hypertension, he does not have any other comorbidities. The doctors have diagnosed it to be a mild COVID case and accordingly, he has been admitted to the COVID ward. Normal treatment procedure is being followed by the doctors in the hospital,” informed, Rudra Narayan Gupta, director of Green Heals Hospital.

Because of his age, Dr. Das did not want to take any chances and that is why, he got himself admitted to the hospital, informed his attendant. They said he wasn’t facing any discomfort and the oxygen saturation levels are normal.

Dr. Lakhan Das treats patients at Kalyani Hospital in Silchar. He completed his MBBS from Calcutta National Medical College and then practised for a couple of years in Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital. From there he went to America for further studies, an FRCS and FCS, Das practised for about 10 years in the United States of America. In 1987, he returned to India and joined the Red Cross Hospital.
