Police apprehends two suspected militants recovers arms from Cachar’s Lakhpur; “Legal action initiated,” SDPO

Major success for Lakhipur Police. Based on a secret tipoff, a team lead by SDPO Lakhipur Kula Pradip Bhattacharya with OC Jirighat, OC Joypur and a team from Dima Hasao launched a joint operation.

The team conducted a raid in Bijungsao Basti under Jirighat PS. SDPO Bhattacharya informed that the raid was a successful one. “Factory Made Muzzle Loading Gun, Gunpowder, bullets, Camouflage dress and hunting boots have been recovered from the possession of the two individuals,” said Bhattacharya.

Darneithuom Hmar son of Chcawnkheaw Lal Hmar from Bijungsao Village and Jehoba Choreai son of Latok Lien Choreai have been apprehended. The latter is a resident of Dharmanagar, Tripura. “Legal action has been initiated against both of them,” added Bhattacharya.

“The two suspects have been detained and appropriate action will be taken. They might be involved with an insurgent group and we are investigating that possibility,” SDPO Kula Pradip Bhattacharya concluded.
