Protest in Katigorah against violence in Tripura; “Won’t stay silent when Prophet is abused,” protester

Campus Front of India today held a protest march in Katigorah condemning the ongoing communal clashes against the minorities in Tripura. Several hundred youths joined the rally and raised slogans against Vishwa Hindu Parishad, RSS, and Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb.

Their protest march began from the Katigorah Senior Secondary School. A large number of security personnel were deployed to curb any untoward incident, and security personnel stopped the rally after moving a few meters from Katigorah School.

“Can’t keep silent, seeing how VHP, RSS is inhumanly torturing Muslims in Tripura; therefore, we organized this rally from Campus Front of India’s Cachar District Committee,” informed the organisers.

“We have condemned what happened in Bangladesh during Durga Puja. We even held a protest rally denouncing the Bangladesh violence, but why is VHP, RSS attacking innocent Muslims in Tripura by making the Bangladesh incident an excuse?” Questioned a member of Campus Front of India from the protest march.

“They abuse us by calling Mullah, Muslims, we tolerate whatever they say, but we can’t keep silent if someone abuses our Prophet. We heard that they raised derogatory slogans against our Prophet. Our life and death become one when our Prophet is abused or attacked. We are requesting them to stop the violence and let us live in peace,” he added.

He also gave credit to the police and security men for assisting them. “Today our SP, ADC and all the security personals have helped us in organizing the rally peacefully,” he said.

They also demanded that the SP and other administrators should be brought under the CBI investigation in Tripura.

Tripura is witnessing unprecedented waves of communal clashes, which is believed to be the repercussions of recent violence against the Minority Hindus in Bangladesh. More than 10 incidents of religious violence have been reported from the North Tripura district in the past four days. In several parts of Tripura, right-wing Hindutwa outfits called for protest rallies which eventually turned violent and rampaged against the Minority own properties, businesses, and mosques. Tripura police have deployed security to 150 mosques around Tripura.
