
Cachar Police recovers suspected explosives from Khulicherra on Assam - Mizoram border; Bomb Squad called
What comes in as a new low in the relationship between Assam and Mizoram, Cachar Police has recovered a packet full of explosives.
After a suspicious packet was spotted in the Khulicherra area at Assam – Mizoram border, Additional SP of Cachar rushed to the spot to verify the packet. Sources informed that following the standard operating procedure, additional SP of Cachar Subrata Sen verified the packet and confirmed that it contains suspected explosives that were yet to be detonated. OC Dholai, Sahab Uddin, IC Lailapur and other officers are on the spot monitoring the situation.
Bomb Squad has been called in by the additional SP from the spot and as per sources, the team is on its way to the spot to check the nature of the explosives. The bomb squad has left Masimpur and reached the spot with all equipment.
Sources also informed that the bomb was kept near a drain and had a chord attached with it. Senior Police officials are staying away from making any comments at this stage. However, Dispur has been informed about the incident and the Police are investigating the intention behind planting the bomb. Media is not allowed in the zone as the Police has already sealed it.
It is worth mentioning here that recently, Hailakandi Police arrested one IR Battalion member alleged to be associated with a blast detonated in the district’s Ramanathpur Area.
