Team from Guwahati to visit bomb-site in Cachar tomorrow: "It was too dark today," SP

Four days in a row and the suspected bomb is still at the site. A team from Nagaon had visited the spot but they suspected it to be a highly explosive TNT bomb and sought for advanced opinion. Today, a team from Guwahati reached the bomb-site and visited the spot. However, the team did not take any action today.

“By the time the team reached the spot, it was too dark and so, they could not initiate the process of diffusing the bomb. Tomorrow morning, the team will again visit the spot and the suspected bomb will be diffused following the standard operating procedure,” asserted SP Cachar, Ramandeep Kaur, while speaking with Barak Bulletin.

The suspected bomb was first spotted on November 6, near an underconstruction pillar of an RCC bridge in Khulicherra area. The site is under the jurisdiction of Cachar district administration and the construction work has been commissioned by Assam Government. It was suspected that the Mizo miscreants have planted the bomb as they wanted to threaten the men at work. The Mizos have openly opposed the construction of the bridge on several occassions.

A team of bomb-squad was called in from Masimpur Station. The team relocated the suspected bomb and kept it is a five-feet deep well. The next day, a team from Nagaon reached the spot and suspected it to be a TNT bomb. Now, what the team says tomorrow is something that remains to be seen.

On the other hand, secretary of Cachar Press Club, Shankar Dey released a statement earlier today. He took a jibe at the Home Minister of Assam who is also the Chief Minister of the state. “This shows that the affairs in Cachar is not a priority for Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. The suspected bomb is causing panic and the general public is under stress, yet, the government is indifferent,” said Shankar Dey.
