
Coal scam: Cachar police arrests constable from Digorkhal
Since Himanta Biswa Sarma took over as the chief minister of Assam, he has intensified the drive against illegal transportation of goods. Accordingly, Superintendent of Police Cachar, Ramandeep Kaur has left no stone unturned to foil such attempts. From regularly monitoring activities on check gates in the bordering areas to making frequent surprise visits, SP Cachar took the drive against illegal interstate transportation a step further.
Today, the Police detained two trucks loaded with coal that entered from Meghalaya. One truck carried coal while it had challan of rice and another one was plying with a challan of cement. After the two trucks were detained, the investigation intensified and eventually, the Police arrested 6 AP Battalion’s constable Ali Aziz Barbhuiya.
SP Cachar, Ramandeep Kaur who is currently in an operation at Manipur border, confirmed to Barak Bulletin that the constable has been arrested.
As per available information, Gumrah Police arrested the constable from Digarkhal combined check gate. Sources close to the development informed that Barbhuiya was on duty at the combined check gate when he was arrested. He is currently being escorted to SP Office in Cachar for further investigation.
