DC Cachar finds school locked during class hours; Headteacher called for an explanation
Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Keerthi Jalli was on her way to the district headquarters from a trip and she stopped by a school seeing some kids standing outside the classroom during the class hours. As she approached the gate of the school, she noticed that the gate of the school is shut. That irked her and she got off her car.
As per the Block Elementary Education Officer, Jayanti Paul, DC Keerthi Jalli found the school locked as the cook of the school keeps the keys and he was on his way from the market. It was the 57 Tikarpar LP School under the Udarbond Block. The DC also asked for the headteacher Biswajit Dey who was absent from the spot. That irked her further.
“The headteacher was in the market to buy goods for the mid-day meal. Since he passes by the market, he buys stuff on his way to the school,” said BEEO Paul. Moreover, not only students, but teachers were also waiting outside. Eventually, deputy commissioner, Jalli asked the BEEO to inform the concerned department.
BEEO Jayanti Paul, accordingly following the instructions of the deputy commissioner informed the Director of Elementary Education (in-charge) who is also the inspector of schools, Cachar, Semina Yasmin Ara Rahman.
As per available information, the headteacher of Tikarpar LP School has been issued a show-cause. BEEO Udarbond, Jayanti Paul said that there were teachers present in the school and so were students, but it was an unfortunate turn of coincidences that the deputy commissioner of Cachar found students outside the gate when she arrived. The action has been initiated and now the matter will be taken up by the concerned authorities to ensure that the school functions as per the protocols.
