"They pelted stones at my car, pulled my beard and said no place for 'Bangals' in India," retired teacher lodges FIR after assault in Silchar

Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal jointly held a huge demonstration in Silchar yesterday. They protested against the murder of Harsha in Karnataka. While doing so, provocative statements followed one after another. (Read Full Story Here).

Moments after the demonstration, reports of an assault surfaced from the heart of the town. At Trunk Road near Silchar Radio Station, a retired teacher and his family members were allegedly assaulted. His car was seen completely vandalised. When asked who did so, retired teacher Rabijul Ali Barbhuiya, a retired teacher from Arkatipur Government School replied, “There were about a hundred boys and some of them identified themselves as members of the Bajrang Dal.”

The resident of Rongpur, Silchar – Barbhuiya was travelling in his Alto Car to home from Ramnagar and as per his Police complaint, the miscreants pelted stones on his car. “They approached us and started saying there is no place for Bangal in India. In no time, they started pulling and tearing my beard. Shocked by their behaviour I could not figure out how to react. When they threw stones at our car, the woman and kid inside got hurt,” added the retired government official.

The FIR has been lodged at Silchar Sadar Police Station and the officials are investigating the matter. Cachar Police confirmed that five individuals have been detained for interrogation in connection to the assault on the teacher at Trunk Road.

Moments before the incident, Mithun Nath, Cachar Secretary of VHP had said in his speech, “They have killed Kamlesh Tiwari, they have killed Harsha two of our girls are missing from Sonai and Kalain. They are victims of Love-Jihad. They think they can ruin us and we will stand and stare. To them, I want to say, don’t test our patience, remember Godhra, Nellie. Hindus never want riots but if you test our patience, Ganga or Bramhaputra’s flow will fail to the flow of what I won’t break down further.”

Mithun Nath was joined by hundreds and the aggressive-provocatory speeches followed one after another. Just a stone’s throw distance away from the office of Deputy Commissioner, the VHP conducted the demonstration. “When we lose our patience, we have seen how they run for their lives in Godhra, Nellie. So, again I reiterate, do not test our patience,” said Mithun Nath. It is worth mentioning here that Nath’s speech had Harsha’s murder at the backdrop.
