Cachar boy stuck in war-struck Ukraine; Family struggling to contact, appeals for evacuation

Along with many students from the entire nation, a medical student from the Cachar district is stuck in warn torn Ukraine. As the situation is getting worse every day, it is getting even more difficult for the Indian Government to access the war stuck country from the outside. Even with these hurdles, the Indian government has started mission Ganga to evacuate Indians from Ukraine.

A medical student from Katigorah, Cachar is stuck in Sumy State University which is in Sumy, Ukraine. Since the time the war started, Muhim Ahmed Khan has been stuck in the war-torn state of Ukraine along with other foreign students, many being Indians. Muhim has been studying in the foreign University for the last four years, to become a doctor. Right now he is stuck in his hostel dorm, from where going out looks life-risking.

As the country blows the middle warning siren now and then, Muhim’s parent’s heart skips a beat. No one, even in their worst nightmare, would want their children to be in such a situation. Speaking to the media, Muhim’s father laments, “Our son has been in Ukraine for the last four days and we never had to worry about him. But now that Russia has declared war on Ukraine, we can’t sleep at night. I request the CM Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma and also to our PM Modi Ji to help me and my family evacuate our dear son.”

But there’s hope, according to government sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a high-level meeting on the Ukraine crisis. Some Union Ministers may go to neighbouring countries of Ukraine to coordinate the evacuations. Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will look after Romania and Moldova, Kiren Rijiju will go to Slovakia, Hardeep Singh Puri will go to Hungary and Gen (Retd) VK Singh will be in Poland to manage the evacuation of Indians stuck in Ukraine. Hopefully, along with every Indians, our homeboy Muhim too will reach his home safely.
