On duty Police officer shoots himself with service revolver inside Silchar Sadar Police Station

In a tragic turn of affairs, a ASI on duty has shot himself with his service revolver. Identified as Gaur Bidhu Singh was on duty at Silchar Sadar Police Station. As per available information, while sitting at his own chair, he removed the service revolver and shot himself at his head.

He is a resident of Udharbond, Moynarbond area. At around 3:00 pm, the Police officials heard the sound of a gunfire and immediately realised that Singh has shot himself.

Superintendent of Cachar Police, Dr. Ramandeep Kaur rushed to the Silchar Sadar Police Station and recovered his dead body. The body has been sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.

His family members have also rushed to the Police station and was shocked at the sudden demise of ASI Singh. Cachar Police is yet to release an official statement on the chain of events.
