Assam government signs MoU with Flybig to offer Silchar - Guwahati flights at Rs 3000 per passenger
In a relief kind of news, the Assam Tourism Development Corporation has decided to introduce emergency flight service between Silchar and Guwahati for the next few days. The rates are subsidised and tickets can be availed from the DC office, Cachar and ATDC’s head office at Paltan Bazar, Guwahati.
Given the tragic flood situation, the communication between Barak Valley with rest of the state and country has got affected. The heavy rainfall caused landslide has disrupted the railway route connecting Lumding with Badarpur. The uprooted tracks and bridges have further caused massive damage to number of railway infrastructure.
Due to the increase in demand, the fare of air tickets of commercial airlines have substantially increased and it is becoming a hardship for general public to bear such increased air fare cost.
Considering the great hardship being faced by the general public due to sudden spike of air fare, Government of Assam has decided to operate emergency flight service between Silchar and Guwahati at subsidised rate of Rs. 3,000 through Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC).
As approved by the Cabinet, ATDC will sign a MoU in this regard with Flybig, which is already providing regional connectivity in Assam and Northeast States.
Flights will be operational from May 19 on a daily basis. The flight will depart from Guwahati to Silchar at 5 pm, the return flight is scheduled at 6:20 pm.
Tickets will be available at special counter at DC Office, Cachar and ATDC’s head office at Paltan Bazar, Guwahati. Tickets can be booked through calling at mobile number- 8135902973 and 8638023921.
Payment can be made through UPI/Google pay on 8135902973.
