Landslide: SDRF recovers two dead bodies from a house in Borakhai, Silchar
A devastating landslide has claimed two lives while they were asleep in Cachar district’s Borakhai Tea Estate. Last night, a large portion of land slipped from the hilltop over a residence in Borakhai Garden, located next to the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar.
Two residents of the house were missing since then. Debris had engulfed the entire house. Today, the SDRF jawans reported to the spot and started clearing the debris. Eventually, they managed to recover two dead bodies from the house devastated by the landslip.
The two deceased have been identified as Shampa Ree (19) and Shibu Ree (50). The recovered dead bodies have been sent to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post mortem.
Amitabh Rai, Chairman of Zila Parishad, Cachar went to the spot to meet the family of the deceased. “It is an unfortunate incident that claimed two lives. I have been accompanied by the Tea Association members and we expressed our condolences to the families. The administration took the initiatives to clear the debris and recover the dead body.”
Shampa Ree and Shibu Ree are residents of the same house. The locals have informed that Shampa Ree is daughter in law of Shibu Ree.
