Ananda Marg High School conducts examination ignoring DC's order to keep insitutions shut
Keeping in view the exponential flood crisis in the state, the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, had issued a circular that clearly instructed all educational institutions and non-essential private establishments to remain closed from 6:00 AM of June 20, 2022, for the next 24 hours.
However, the Ananda Marg High School of Udharbond, did not issue any notice to its students, regarding a necessary rescheduling of the examination, to be held today. The seemingly oblivious Headmistress, Ananda Arundhati, mentions that her house had all power supplies cut for the last two days, and so she failed to know of the circular. All the students who arrived today, grappling the tides of the flood, had to sit for the examination in the morning shift. The Headmistress further adds that she charged her phone battery only after reaching the school, and it was then that she learnt of the circular from the DC.
“Very few students turned up for today’s examination. I assure that those who were absent, shall be made to appear for the examination once the situation returns to normal. I have already canceled the examination of the second shift”, says the Headmistress.
The guardians of the students outside the school campus were enraged, following such an oblivious attitude of the Headmistress. They were drenched in the flood, struggling to come to the school, only because the school issued no notice to them regarding any rescheduling of the examination. Moreover, keeping the flood aside, June 20, was originally a Government Holiday, so the question of prescheduling an examination on this day, is clearly an act of going against the administration’s orders.
With the water level rising at 21.54 cm, the entire town is in deep anxiety and distress. The Magistrate also mentioned that conducting an examination in such a situation was not satisfactory .
