FIR filed against Kallinecherra tea garden authority for allegedly pocketing Provident Funds of Employees

An FIR has been filed against the Kallinecherra tea garden authority for withholding the provident funds of tea estate employees. The FIR was filed last Saturday against the tea estate manager.

The Tea Estate has been accused of illegally transferring the land which is supposedly against the contract signed with the government. The complaint was filed by the Cachar Additional PF Commissioner who went on to say that the property had been attached (seized) and any attempt to subvert the order was illegal.

“They have pocketed 45 lakhs from the employees’ Provident Funds” said the Additional Commissioner when asked about the exact amount that the Tea Estate was apparently hoarding.

This incident has occurred at a time where the situation in Dolu Tea Estate is also tumultuous. Does this indicate a deeper problem of corruption and callousness in the Tea Estates?
