Tipper-auto head-on collision in Katigorah, 4 die on spot

A hit and run case took the lives of four passengers in Katigorah, last night. In a head-on collision between a dumper truck and a passenger tempo, four died on the spot and the rest were severely injured. This incident happened last night at around 1 am on National Highway Number 6 at Tikpara village in Katigorah. The injured passengers were rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The truck was at a very high speed and after the collision, it managed to escape from the accident spot.

The four deceased have been identified as Rajan Das, Yasin Ali, Bilal Ahmed and Salim Uddin. Five passengers were also injured and out of them, some are struggling for their lives at SMCH. The truck was headed to Badarpur and the tempo was coming from the opposite side. The impact of the collision was severe and the vehicle was badly crushed. A local in the spot said, “Last night I heard this loud noise of a collision, I came out to see what it was and saw one empty dumper truck speeding away leaving the tempo truck completely crushed. Two passengers were stuck inside the vehicles and with the help of some neighbours, we managed to get them out of the damaged vehicle”.

There were a total of 9 passengers in the tempo and due to the impact of the collision, most of them were thrown out of it. The locals have proactively helped to recover the injured and the deceased and send them to the hospital. The Police came to the spot much later and by then the injured were sent to the hospital in different vehicles by the locals. After this, the enraged locals blocked the National Highway at the spot of the accident. After police rushed to the spot, the road blockade was withdrawn.
