Fault in the power transformer at Malinibeel disrupts electricity in the entire town; DC Office, Court, water supply affected

A short-circuit in Malinibeel Substation has created a power outage in the entire town and adjacent areas of Silchar since early morning on Tuesday. This outage has come after there was a spark in the power transformer at the substation. This has resulted in power outages in the areas which depend on Malinibeel Substation, which induces the office of the Deputy Commissioner and the District Court, Cachar.

According to the sources in the APDCL, the restoration work is in process by the engineers and technical staff of the department. So far there is no estimated time when the electricity might be restored. In this regard, AGM Arup Paul of the department has said, “There was flashing in the power distribution transformer cable early in the morning which has resulted in this power outage. This has happened in the Malinibeel Substation and the areas under this substation are affected. We are working on this and our TNC Department has also arrived in the area where technicians are working to restore the line”.

About the areas affected due to this flashing he said, “Tarapur, Malugram, PHE feeder, Cout, DC Office, Rongpur are the areas where there is a power outage. We can not give any estimated time when the line will be restored but soon we will arrive at a conclusion”. This crisis has also impacted the water distribution as the Sadarghat PHE feeder also gets its supply from Malinibeel.

Works in the District Court, office of the Deputy Commissioner and many other offices, schools, shops and homes will be equally affected due to this. As of 11 AM, the lines were not restored.
