14 year old from Kachudaram missing for 25 days, parents helplessly seek help from the media

A 14 year old boy from Kachudaram’s Ganganagar has been missing for the last 25 days. Arif Uddin Laskar is the son of Samir Uddin Laskar and Rumi Begum Laskar. The student of Kangla Basti LP School, didn’t return home from school on August 19. He couldn’t be traced by any relatives, friends or acquaintances of the family. Helplessly, the family went and filed a dairy at the Kachudaram Police Station on the same evening, but so far even the police couldn’t trace his whereabouts.

On Friday morning, Arif left for school at around 8:30 in the morning like any other day. But in the evening when all his friends returned home, he didn’t come. The parents were tense and started to call his friends and their relatives to know if he went to their home. But even after searching for a long time they couldn’t find him anywhere, nor did anyone see him anywhere. They were helpless at that point and went to file a missing report with the Kachudaram Police Station. It’s been almost a month but the young boy is still missing and the police could not find any hint how he went missing or where he was.

Arif’s parents broke into tears while addressing the media today and said, “So many days have passed and we have left no place unturned searching for our son. We can’t sleep at night, neither can we eat anything. We are from a very humble background and our son was our everything”. Sharing their contact number, Arif’s father said, “Please contact us if you find him or saw him anywhere”. 9401954514, 6901591156 are the two contact numbers of Arif’s parents.

There are rumoured kidnapping rackets active in the valley. People from areas of all the three districts are reporting such cases where they either saw someone suspicious or someone trying to steal their kid. Even though Cachar SP APS Numal Mahatta has called it all rumours, parents and children everywhere are in panic mode. In the local tongue, such kidnappers are called Khuchidhora or chele-dhora (where chele = young boys and dhora = kidnapper).
