Anti-Romeo Squad in Cachar, male and female uniformed officers in team to keep eve-teasing at bay
Cachar Police prepares an “Anti-Romeo Squad” to keep eve-teasing in check this Puja. Every year people, especially the girls and the women, face situations like eve-teasing, groping and harassment by some miscreants. In order to restrain these incidents, the police have prepared an “Anti-Romeo Squad” to avoid this type of misdemeanor.
This squad will consist of specially-trained male as well as female police officers and the team will be on patrol throughout the day for 24 hours regularly during the days of Puja in the town. The Anti-Romeo Squad will come into effect soon after Mahalaya. This squad will be working in addition to the previously existing rules.
Traffic regulation will also be maintained in the town like every year. After discussing the matter with the Municipal Board and the citizens, the police have come up with a traffic plan, which will be finalised soon, and will be effective during the entire duration of Puja. They developed the plan keeping in mind the suggestions of the people. The roads which usually have heavy traffic throughout the year have been converted to one ways and also 4 points have been selected to put up police watch-towers, constituting the civil administration along with the police. The entire town will be under the surveillance of the police and a smooth traffic regulation will be maintained.
Cachar police has been working on developing effective plans to maintain the crowd and keep the indiscretion and heavy traffic under control so that the people can enjoy a hassle-free Puja.
