5.2 magnitude Earthquake jolts Cachar and northeastern India; Govt. reviews epicentre in Myanmar
Silchar welcomes Maha Panchami with a quake. Most of the Puja pandals in Silchar have people awake late at night, working to wrap up the decorations. However, a large number of those asleep, woke up wondering what took awake their sleep.
As the National Center for Seismology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India records state at 3:52 am an earthquake of 5.2 magnitude was reported and the quake was felt in Northeastern India, parts of Bangladesh and Myanmar.
The government body records Myanmar as the epicentre of the earthquake and the depth is recorded 140 km.
Meanwhile, reactions have started to pour on Facebook and many said they were wondering what woke them up so early in the morning.
