A resident of Chandmari Road, Tarapur, Dipjoy Paul has been detained by Cachar Police last night. According to his friends and colleagues, the Police reached his doorsteps post midnight and escorted him to Silchar Sadar Police Station. Since then, he has been kept detained at the Police Station.

Cachar SP, Numal Mahatta, responding to a query from Barak Bulletin confirmed that Paul has been detained for his Facebook post dated October 3, 2022, stating, “Tarapur Divider Puja.”

Here is the post that was shared with the SP and he was asked on the official group, “Sir, is it true that this particular account owner has been arrested/detained by Cachar Police in Silchar Sadar Police Station for sharing this particular post?” To this, the SP responded and said “Yeah”.

While SP Mahatta refused to share further details, Police sources informed that a complaint was filed by one resident, and based on the complaint, the Police registered a case against Paul under section(s), 120B, 295B, 427, and 501.
