Alcohol addict dies after wife and nephew ties him; Tarapur Police recovers body, detains both
In Sukanta Lane of Tarapur Shibbari Road, an incident has shocked the locals. A man identified as 50-year-old Munna Das has been found dead at his own residence. The locals of the area reported the matter to Police and a team from Tarapur Police Outpost rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
Locals of the area said that Munna Das was an alcohol addict, however, he used to seldom disturb the neighbours. “After drinking, he would go to his home and sleep. Recently his elder brother Bablu Das has come here and started living with the family. Yesterday, when Munna Das reached home and might had involved himself in an argument, his wife Mamata Das and his nephew, Bablu Das’ son tied his hands and mouth and dumped him into a corner of the house,” said a local.
Adding, “Early morning, we – a group of locals, went to his house and requested his wife to untangle him as otherwise he might get hurt. The wife told us in as many words – let him die if he dies, don’t untie him or Bablu Das will get angry. It was their family matters and so, we couldn’t say anything further and thus we left their house.”
After a couple of hours, they got to know that Munna Das has died. “All of us again rushed to his house and saw he is dead on the same spot we saw him tied. We untied him and called the cops. This is nothing but a cold-blooded murder,” asserted a local resident.
IC of Tarapur Police Outpost informed that the deadbody has been sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. At the same time, the Police has also detained family members for interrogation.
