Hailakandi Civil Hospital guards attack a 70-year-old, three guards taken into Police custody

After the attack on a patient’s attendant at Silchar Medical College and Hospital allegedly by doctors, another case of similar attack has been reported at Hailakandi Civil Hospital last night. Except this time, it was the hospital security guard who attacked a 70-year-old man. The 70-year-old man went to see a relative who was in the male ward of the hospital. While entering the gate, security denied him permission as only one attendant was allowed with the patient. This led to an argument between the 70-year-old and the security. All of a sudden, the other security guards teamed up and allegedly attacked the elderly person. Following this attack, three security guards of the hospital have been apprehended by the Hailakandi Police and the old man is currently admitted at the hospital in Hailakandi.

Last night, when a 70-year-old man went to see his relative at the male ward of Santosh Kumar Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi, he was denied entry by the security guard on duty. The security guard argued that only one attendant was allowed with the patient at the hospital. This led to an argument between the guard and the relatives who came to see a patient. As the argument became heated, the security guard allegedly attacked the 70-year-old man. Two other security guards also joined the alleged attacker.

The impact of the attack injured the 70-year-old severely and he was admitted to the same Civil Hospital, where he went to see his relative. Following this attack, the Hailakandi Police were informed, rushed to the spot and apprehended the three security guards involved in the attack. All three of them have been kept at Sadar Police Station’s custody in Hailakandi.

The security guards who have been apprehended by the police are, Rupam Nath, Ikbal Hussain Laskar and Jahirul Islam Laskar. Many locals have also said that the security guards of the hospital which belong to a private company treat patients inhumanely. Often these security guards demand money from people and misbehave with women.
