Silchar Municipal Corporation formation process starts, delimitation board constituted

The process of formation of Silchar Municipal Corporation has started. Delimitation Board of Silchar Municipal Corporation was formed with the District Commissioner of Cachar as the Chairman.

An order by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Government of Assam on behalf of the Governor has informed that the Chairman of this Delimitation Board will be the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar district or any other officer nominated by him. Other members of the delimitation board are Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, Ministry of Housing and Affairs Department Joint Secretary Hemanta Bhuiyan, Cachar Additional Deputy Commissioner, present Executive Officer of Silchar Municipal Board and Dhubri Medical Hall social worker Bimal Oswal, LL.B.

The newly constituted delimitation board will submit a report to the Assam government demarcating the wards of Silchar Municipal Corporation. This was informed in an order signed by Richand Ahmed, Joint Secretary to the Govt. Of Assam Department of Housing & Urban Affairs, dated 27-12-2022. The order no. is DoHua-1101/12/2022.
