Unrest in Nilam Bazar as tube well established in entrance path of Kali Mandir by local named Sihab Uddin

The incident of establishment of a tube well in the entrance path of a Kali Mandir has caused unrest in the Nilam Bazar area of Karimganj. A local named Sihab Uddin has established the tube well due to which the situation has become heated. According to Sihab Uddin, the land on which the tubewell has been established belongs to him. In order to prevent the situation from getting out of hand, the administration has taken preventive measures.

Speaking to reporters about the incident Biswarup Bhattacharjee, BJP Karimganj District President said, “Today is a cursed and unfortunate day for Karimganj. The Nilambazar Kalibari Mandir located in South Karimganj assembly constituency has been desecrated by a Muslim for increasing the area of his land. He installed a tube well in the entrance path of the Kali Mandir. The Mandir Committee urged him to remove the tube well. Instead the man turned violent and with the help of others attacked devotees who came to the temple in the morning as well as members of the Mandir Committee including the priest. The Karimganj Police officials arrived in time and unarmed them. But it is unfortunate that the temple was desecrated and the place of Yajna was destroyed by them.”

Bhattacharjee added, “It should be kept in mind that the BJP government is in power in Assam under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sharma. So they should stop playing with fire or else the results would be disastrous. Everyone irrespective of the religion they follow should live together in harmony. The police will carry on the investigation and they have already arrested 1-2 people in connection with the incident. The police have recovered video footage of the miscreants who entered the temple and beat the devotees, desecrated the temple and destroyed the entrance gate as well as the yajna sthal.”
