Breaking: Silchar Medical College suspends postgraduate student found guilty of indiscipline

In a recent decision taken by the Academic Council of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, a postgraduate student from the Department of Orthopedics has been found guilty of indiscipline. Dr. M Q Laskar, a student of the 2021-22 batch, has been suspended from attending classes and academic privileges for a period of six months. Additionally, he has been suspended or expelled from the hostel.

The decision was taken in a meeting held in the chamber of Principal cum Chief Superintendent, Silchar Medical College and Hospital on March 17 2023. The student was found guilty of being absent from his allotted emergency duty, giving false statements to both the Principal and the Professor & Head of the Department of Orthopedics, and engaging middlemen for personal dealings with the College authorities.

The actions of the student were viewed as willful acts of indiscipline, and the Academic Council therefore recommended the disciplinary actions against him. The actions imposed on the guilty PG student of Department of Orthopedics will come into effect immediately.

This decision has sent a strong message to the students of Silchar Medical College and Hospital that any act of indiscipline will not be tolerated, especially when it jeopardizes patient care. It also highlights the importance of ethical conduct and professionalism in the medical profession

It maybe mentioned that the Department of Orthopedics was mentioned in a sensational facebook post on a confession page where a junior alleged that he was ragged to the extent that he was contemplating about committing suicide. After the confession, the vigilance was increased in the Department. Thereafter some irregularities were found in some departments and action has been taken to send a strong message.
