Electricity Department worker dies after getting electrocuted while trying to connect power line at Hiyarbond

An Electricity Department worker died after touching a live power line at Hiyarbond located in Borkhola constituency of Cachar. The deceased’s name is Vikram Das and he is a resident of Rampur located in Borkhola constituency. It is reported that on Sunday afternoon at approximately 5 pm he came to Hiyarbond area for connecting the power line. While performing his task, the power line got suddenly cut. He didn’t realise that the power line was carrying live current and touched it. Immediately he fell to the ground after putting his hand in the cut power line.

After the incident, he was rescued unconscious and brought to Sonapur Health Center for primary treatment but the doctor on duty declared him dead. His body was later sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the local people told the media that Vikram Das has a small child. Thinking about the future of the child and his wife, the locals requested Borkhola MLA Misbahul Islam Laskar to provide government assistance to his family.
