Congress holds 'Joy Bharat Satyagraha' programme in Silchar for two hours

Silchar District Congress held ‘Joy Bharat Satyagraha’ programme today to protest against the dictatorship, curtailment of freedom of speech and politics of vengeance by the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. District President Abhijit Paul, Borkhola MLA Misbaul Islam Laskar, members of Pradesh Congress, Youth Congress NSUI and hundreds of Congress workers were present in this satyagraha programme held infront of the District Congress Office on Wednesday. The leaders gave speeches protesting against the dictatorial regime in the state.

Speaking to reporters, Abhijit Paul, President of Silchar District Congress Committee said, “On the instruction of Assam Pradesh Congress, Silchar District Congress Committee alongwith other districts took up a two-hour satyagraha programme today. During the winter session our leader Rahul Gandhi asked two questions in the Parliament. He wanted a Joint Parliamentary Committee to investigate Adani’s abnormal growth in income. He also asked where Rs 20,000 crores came from in Adani’s Company and who invested.”

He added, “After asking these questions, a Surat court sentenced him to two years in prison in a defamation case based on a rumor in 2019. He was expelled from Parliament the next day. He was also asked to vacate his government residence. We are protesting against the way this government is trying to murder democracy. Hence two hour long satyagraha has been organised across the country.”
