Teacher arrested for physically assaulting a student of Rashbihari LP School, Rongpur, Silchar

In a sensational incident, an 8-year-old student of Rashbihari LP School in Rongpur, Silchar was allegedly physically assaulted and tortured by a teacher in the classroom on May 8, 2023. The incident came to light after the student’s mother, Sukriti Paul, lodged an FIR at Silchar Police Station.

According to the FIR, the student, Jit Singha, was assaulted by his teacher named Indaj Hussain Laskar during class hours. The school authorities were alerted about the incident and they took immediate action by handing over the accused teacher to the police. The student was also medically examined and has been handed over to his legal guardian. Based on the mother’s FIR, the accused teacher was detained by the Police and they are interrogating him.

Speaking about the incident Cachar SP Numal Mahatta said, “A student of Rashbihari LP School was beaten and physically assaulted by a teacher of the same school. Based on this incident, the mother of the Class 2 student filed an FIR at the Police Station. We have arrested the teacher named Indaj Hussain Laskar and are interrogating him. Lawful action will be initiated against him.”
