Mysterious death of youth at Paradise Home : Two centres of the Home sealed by Police
The mysterious death of a young man at the Paradise Home in Meherpur, Silchar has created a sensation in the entire town. As the news of the youth’s death spread, a heated situation arose on Wednesday night. The family members of the youth alleged that he was beaten to death. The young man’s house is in Silchar Itkhola area.
Last Tuesday Sribas Biswas got drunk and started a ruckus after coming home. Later, his family members went to Silchar Malugram Police Outpost and handed him over to the Police. On the same day, Police admitted Sribas to Paradise Rehabilitation Centre in Meherpur without taking permission from his family and he died later.
Meanwhile, the Cachar Police sealed Paradise Home, a shelter for the mentally ill, indefinitely. It has been alleged that in this home, extreme inhumane treatment was done with the occupants. After the mysterious death of Itkhola youth Sribas Biswas, the Sadar police led by Additional Superintendent of Cachar Police Subrata Sen reached the Paradise Home on Thursday. The home was untidy all around and in a dirty environment. About 15 occupants of the home were in a critical condition. Some of the occupants spoke about themselves to the Police by crying. The police immediately took action by rescuing the occupants and sending them to another rehabilitation centre called New Life Foundation. Five more women were rescued from Meherpur Botertol area in another branch of Paradise Home and sent to New Life Foundation Home. Later the police sealed both the centres. Meanwhile, the police arrested two employees of Paradise Home, but the main accused, Mofzul Hussain Barbhuiya was not found.
