The announcement of Class 10 examination results has revealed a concerning statistic: approximately 27.31 percent of students were unable to pass the exams this year. Recognising the significant impact of academic failure on students’ mental well-being, education experts and psychologists emphasise the urgent need for comprehensive counseling support to address the mental health concerns arising from this setback. The Class 10 examinations hold great importance as they serve as a critical milestone in a student’s academic journey. However, falling short of achieving the desired results can leave students feeling overwhelmed, disappointed, and stressed. These negative emotions can take a toll on their mental health and overall well-being.
One of the primary objectives of counseling is to offer students a safe space to express their emotions and concerns. Trained counselors create a supportive environment where students can freely discuss their feelings of disappointment, frustration, and self-doubt. By addressing these emotions, counselors help students process their thoughts and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
Moreover, counseling plays a crucial role in building resilience among students. Through personalised sessions, students can develop strategies to overcome adversity, set realistic goals, and enhance their self-belief. By equipping students with resilience skills, counselors empower them to face future challenges with a positive mindset, promoting their overall mental well-being.
