Absconding Principal of Bhanga HS School finally arrested by Badarpur Police following allegations of sexual abuse

9 days after an FIR was lodged against the Principal of Bhanga Higher Secondary School, Asar Uddin, the Badarpur Police finally managed to get hold of him today and arrested him. It maybe mentioned that a minor girl studying in Karimganj Bhanga Higher Secondary School was allegedly raped by her Principal Asar Uddin on May 9. The victim, a student of Class 7, was called by the Principal to his room and then allegedly raped. The victim’s parents later filed an FIR against the Principal accusing him of rape. Asar Uddin was absconding from the Police since the last 9 days.

He was also suspended from his duties as a Principal by the Education Department on May 20 following allegations of sexual abuse of the minor student. The suspension order was issued by Smti. Mamata Hojai, Director of Secondary Education, Assam.

Similar accusations were raised against the Principal in the past as well. The Principal allegedly perpetrated the crime while the school was going on. The incident caused widespread sensation in Karimganj town with many organisations gheraoing the SP’s office and blocking roads demanding the arrest of the Principal.
