7th Standard Govt. Boys student murders 6th Std schoolmate by assaulting with an umbrella in Silchar
In a tragic turn of affairs a 13-year-old has lost his life following an innocuous fight with a fellow schoolmate and neighbour. The incident occured in Silchar’s Kalibari Chor area.
According to the eyewitnesses, two young boys engaged in a physical dual in Silchar’s Bhuiya Gaddi Road. The two individuals have been identified as 13-year-old and sixth standard student of Government Boys School Raj Das and 16-year-old and 7th standard student of the same school, Bihan Das popularly known as Jitu.
Mother of Raj Das informed that last night at around 8:00 pm, she was informed by the neighbours about an assault on her son. “I rushed to see that the fight has ended however, my son had swelling on his head and lips. I treated the wounds with turmeric and thought it was an end to it. We slept and today morning I asked my son to skip the school as he might get attacked again. In the morning, he did not go to the school and I went to work.”
The mother added, “At 12:00 noon I was informed that my son has been attacked again. Now he his no more.”
Raj Das was rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. The family alleged that Raj Das was stabbed with the tip of the umbrella which pierced through skin and flesh in multiple spots of his body. His head too incurred severe injuries. Owing to the assault, the 13-year-old has succumbed.
Silchar Sadar Police Station initiated the investigation and detained Bihan Das for interrogation. The officer in charge refused to comment at this stage, however, Police sources informed that they are chasing one more individual, likely to be involved in the murder.
