District Admin writes to DSA to defer election "As per the request of Silchar MLA" due to "urban flood"
If you thought you have seen it all when it comes to the twists and turns of a DSA election, hold on. Breaking news coming in from the district headquarters of the Cachar, an ADC, who does not even name himself/herself drafts an erroneous letter “requesting” at the behest of an elected representative to postpone the elections of an autonomous body like the DSA. No kidding, it actually happened!
One of the additional deputy commissioners of Cachar has written a letter to the General Secretary of Silchar DSA, Bijendra Prasad Singh, with the subject line, “Request to postpone the date of Biennial General Meeting, Election Process of DSA Silchar regarding.” Seldom a sentence ends with regarding, but the ADC in a rush did so.
The letter adds, “With reference to the subject cited above and as per request received from the Hon’ble MLA, Silchar, I am directed to request you to defer the date of Biennial General Meeting, Election Process of Governing Body and other committees of District Sports Association, Silchar, in view of the present situation of urban flood in various parts of Silchar due to heavy rainfall.”
Now the most bizzare part of the letter, “The has the approval of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar. Silchar.” If the DC has approved the same, why isn’t he signing it? Did the district administration just declare flood in Urban Silchar? The ADC writes he or she has been directed to do so, directed by whom?
The erroneous draft seemed to be a fake and distorted attempt to disrupt the elections to the governing body of Silchar DSA scheduled on June 25. But then comes the confirmation. General Secretary of Silchar DSA, Bijendra Prasad Singh, issued a press statement confirming the receipt of the letter and called for a Governing Body meeting tomorrow at 6:30 pm to decide the future course of action.
