Lorry plunges into deep ditch in Mizoram, Driver and Assistant from Cachar dead

A terrible road accident occurred in Mizoram as a lorry carrying goods fell in a deep ditch several hundred feet deep. The fatal road accident took place at Sialsuk on Lunglei road. The driver and assistant died on the spot. The accident took place on today morning at around 11 am. The name of the deceased driver is Imran Hussain Laskar, aged approximately 25 years, son of Jamal Uddin Laskar and resident of Rajghat (Rangouti) village, Bhagabazar Gram Panchayat. The name of the deceased co-driver is Rezbul Hussain Laskar, aged approximately 25 years, son of Altaf Hossain Barbhuiya and resident of Joydanpur village under the same gram panchayat. The driver and assistant are uncle and cousin by relation.

It is known that the uncle cousin duo was going to Siaha, Mizoram in a six-wheeler lorry numbered MZ 04 A 4339 carrying bricks from Bhagabazar. After reaching a place called Sialsuk at approximately 11:30 in the morning, the lorry lost control in heavy rain and fell into a ditch several hundred feet deep. The lorry got completely destroyed. Drivers of other vehicles on the road witnessed the incident and immediately came to the rescue.

The news was sent to the Police and Mizo organisation YMA. Police and YMA members have already reached the spot. They have confirmed the death of the driver and assistant, although it has not been possible to retrieve the dead bodies yet from the deep ditch due to heavy rain. After getting the news of the accident, the officials of Silchar Truck Drivers’ Association have already left for the spot.
