Youth gets caught after impersonating as TTE on Guwahati-Silchar Express, Says was his childhood dream

An outlandish attempt at impersonation unfolded aboard the Guwahati-Silchar Express last Sunday when a youth, masquerading as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE), was detained by vigilant passengers and subsequently handed over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) authorities.

As per reports, Pappu Das, hailing from Katigorah, boarded the Guwahati-Silchar train on September 24, executing a skillful manoeuvre by impersonating as a TTE. For some time, he travelled across the compartments inspecting tickets and even collected fines from passengers who were without valid ones.

However, his facade eventually unraveled as a few passengers dubious of Das’ conduct asked him to produce his identity card, which, to their astonishment, was found to be devoid of any official markings. His inability to furnish proper documents for substantiating his claims led passengers to detain him for being an imposter. Not only did they recover the ill-gotten fines, but they also swiftly handed over the duplicitous individual to the RPF authorities as the train reached its destination, Silchar Railway Station.

Following an interrogation, Pappu Das confessed to his deception, offering an eccentric justification for his actions. He stated that his childhood dream had always been to become a TTE, yet repeated attempts to secure such a position had met with failure, ultimately driving him to embark on the fraudulent course. He claimed that his motive was to gain a genuine real-life experience of being a TTE. He urged the government to allot him a government job.

As of now, Pappu Das remains in the custody of the police, awaiting further legal proceedings.
