Individual suspected as child kidnapper apprehended by Silchar Police

In an incident raising caution, a man, suspected of being a child kidnapper, has been apprehended by the police in Silchar Chengkuri Road, following a public brawl. The individual under suspicion, post the altercation, has been taken into custody by the police.

It is learned that on Sunday afternoon around 4 PM, a child was playing near the National Highway junction in Chengkuri Road. His parents were standing at a distance, keeping a watchful eye. At that moment, a man, approximately 45 years old, approached and engaged in a scuffle with the child. Observing the situation, the parents intervened and even managed to apprehend him.

The onlookers, noticing the apparent confusion, joined in, leading to a physical altercation involving several people. Subsequently, the police intervened, taking the individual into custody. According to a police source, the individual is currently under interrogation.

While initially, the person’s statements, communicated in Hindi, suggest some mental health issues, it is also being considered whether he is feigning mental distress to evade criminal charges. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the true nature of the incident.
