Veteran journalist Swadesh Biswas is no more; Press Club, BUKSS pay condolence
Veteran journalist Swadesh Biswas has breathed his last at his own residence in Ambicapatty. Ailing for the last few days with Kidney related issues, Biswas was admitted to a hospital recently for advanced treatment. He was released and transferred to home. He lived by his wife, two sons and left behind hundreds of friends and acquaintances.
His demise has left behind big shoes to fill said, Shankar Dey, Secretary of Silchar Press Club, “He was one of the active members of the language movement and was fearless in holding the pen for the poor and marginalised. He has always been an ambassador of fearless journalism even when the journalists had to face atrocities he continued with dignity. Our condolences with the family and we pray for his soul to rest in peace,” said Dey while paying him condolences.
His mortal remains were brought to the Silchar Press Club where journalists from across the district paid tribute to the departing soul. After that his body was taken to the Silchar Crematorium for funeral.
Barak Upatyaka Kreeda Sangbadik Sangstha (BUKSS) also paid condolences to the family of veteran journalist Swadesh Biswas. Worth mentioning here that Sayan Biswas, his son, is also a journalist.
