Cachar Police Thwart Illegal Arms Operation, Nab Miscreants in Special Raid

In a swift and targeted operation, the Cachar Police team successfully apprehended two individuals involved in carrying illegal arms in the Katigorah, Chowrongi, and Katirail areas. The miscreants, identified as Md. Abdul Aziz of 34 years old and Md. Abdul Wahab of 23 years old, were taken into custody near the Indian Petrol Pump in Chowrongi.

During the operation, law enforcement discovered a .22 mm pistol with a magazine and three live rounds of ammunition in the possession of the accused. Additionally, two suspected gold biscuits, weighing approximately 250 grams, a substantial screwdriver, and two keypad mobile handsets, one Nokia in black and one Samsung in white were seized from the individuals.

The arrested culprits are identified as Md. Abdul Aziz also known as Sanu, son of Md. Rukun Uddin from Bihara Part V, PS-Kalain, and Md. Abdul Wahab, son of Md. Ismail Ali from Barunga, PS Kalain. The confiscated items, including the illegal arms and suspected gold, have been logged as evidence.

The accused offenders are now facing charges under Katigorah PS Case No. 15/2024, filed under Section 25 (1) (a) of the Arms Act. They are being promptly forwarded to the honorable court for further legal proceedings.

Cachar Police is actively investigating the motives behind the possession of the weapons and other items. Authorities are keen to uncover any sinister plans that may have been in the making, emphasizing the significance of preventing any potential harm to the community.
