Minister Ranoj Pegu Debunks Paper Leak Reports: Calls it "Fake news" by attention seekers

Today marked the beginning of the HSLC examination conducted by SEBA. However, within the initial 30 minutes of the exam, reports surfaced claiming that a question paper had been leaked on the very first day. Suspicion quickly fell upon Nena Mia High School in Cachar’s Baskandi Area.

Nevertheless, after an initial investigation, District Development Commissioner Rajiv Roy stated that there was no evidence of a leak occurring at Nena Mia High School or anywhere in Cachar.

Following the leak allegation, DDC, along with SP Cachar and the School Inspector, promptly visited the school to probe the matter. After the initial inquiry, they concluded that no papers had been leaked. However, one individual from the school management was detained, suspected of possibly being involved in the dissemination of the question paper via social media.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister for Higher Education and School Education, Shri Ranoj Pegu, took to social media to debunk the reports of the leak as fake. He reiterated this stance during a media address, emphasizing that further investigation was underway to uncover the truth.

Pegu also mentioned measures taken to prevent similar incidents, such as restricting mobile phones inside exam venues not even invigilators. He suggested that the false news might have been propagated for attention-seeking purposes.

He also mentioned that this time, the packet containing the question papers would not be opened inside the headmaster’s room or anywhere else. Instead, it would be opened directly in front of the students. The papers would be transported from the police station to the school, and then directly to the exam hall, where they would be opened in full view of the students.
