Prime Accused in Sonai Gang-rape Case Arrested

On February 15th, a distressing incident unfolded in Sonai area, where a young girl was lured into a trap by a group of four individuals. Following the deceit, they subjected her to sexual assault before leaving her stranded in front of her home.

The main suspect in this appalling case, identified as Dilwar Hussain, has recently been apprehended by authorities. Reports indicate that he surrendered himself to law enforcement on Thursday. However, the remaining three suspects, namely Suryamani Laskar aka Jabir, Ijazur Rahman Barbhuiya aka Pattu, and Rakib Hussain Barbhuiya, are still at large.

The incident occurred around 7 o’clock on February 15, when Dilwar Hussain, who is married, summoned the minor girl from her residence. Accompanied by the other three accused in a vehicle, they forcibly transported her to an isolated location where the heinous act took place. Afterward, they returned her home at dawn.

Om February 16, following the incident, the girl’s father filed a case against the four accused, prompting swift action from law enforcement. Sensing the gravity of the situation, the accused attempted to flee. However, on Thursday, the primary suspect voluntarily surrendered himself to authorities.

The police have taken the case seriously and have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects to ensure justice is served in this distressing incident.
