A 9-foot-long King Cobra found coiled beside the idol of Lord Shiva was safely rescued and returned to its natural habitat by Ecologist and Wildlife Researcher Bishal Sonar. When alerted by locals near Assam University in the Irongmara area on April 16, Sonar swiftly responded to ensure the reptile’s well-being.

Upon arrival, Sonar discovered the snake resting inside the temple, prompting concern from locals about potential harm. Despite initial hesitation, Sonar, renowned for his expertise in handling venomous snakes, proceeded with the rescue. He described the snake’s posture moments before the rescue as reminiscent of “Shiv ji’s snake,” evoking a sense of divinity.

Reflecting on the incident, Sonar emphasized the routine behavior of snakes seeking refuge in homes and temples, particularly during hot weather. He underscored the importance of safeguarding both humans and wildlife from potential harm.

The King Cobra was safely relocated to a dense forest, ensuring its continued survival in its natural habitat.
