Young Death In Karimganj: Drowning in Pond Kills Two Young Girls

In a heart-wrenching incident, two young girls drowned in a pond in the Batoiya area of Karimganj, Assam, on Saturday, 15 June 2024. The tragic event has plunged the local community into deep sorrow.

On Saturday, an unfortunate incident resulted in the death of two minor girls. Four-year-old Sabrin Akhtar, daughter of Hilal Uddin, and three-year-old Tahsina Jannat, daughter of Noyim Uddin, were friends who loved to play together. What started as a simple, joyful game turned into a fatal accident leading to their untimely deaths.

As per reports, Noyim Uddin, was residing as a tenant in the Batoiya area. His family shared the same house with Hilal Uddin’s family. Both the little girls went out to play together and did not return home for a long time, causing their families to worry and start searching for them. They discovered the girls’ sandals near a pond, prompting a search in the water. Tragically, the bodies of the two girls were found in the pond.

The girls were immediately taken to Nilam Bazar Primary Health Centre, where the doctor declared them dead. The incident has left both families and the entire neighbourhood in shock and grief.

It is incredibly sad and unfortunate that two young lives, full of potential and promise, were cut short. This tragic accident has cast a pall of sorrow over the entire area, with the community mourning the loss of these innocent children.

An investigation has been initiated by the local authorities. The bodies of the girls have been sent to Karimganj Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination, as the police begin their preliminary inquiry into the incident.
