Newly Elected MP Parimal Suklabaidya Surveys Flood-Affected Areas in Cachar, Assures Remedial Measure

Silchar Lok Sabha’s newly elected MP, Parimal Suklabaidya, today visited various flood-affected areas in the Cachar district to assess the situation firsthand. The Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party interacted with residents in the flood-hit regions of Cachar’s Katigorah Assembly constituency, assuring them that remedial measures would be taken once the floodwaters recede.

During his visit, MP Suklabaidya inspected the relief camp set up at Kinokhal L.P. School under Harinagar GP of Katigorah LAC, where more than 100 people are taking shelter. He spoke with the camp inmates and inquired about the daily relief materials being provided. The MP urged the District Commissioner and DDMA Cachar to ensure medical facilities, safe drinking water, and cattle fooder for the camp refugees.

He then visited another relief camp at Nehru Memorial LP School, which shelters over 200 flood-affected individuals. MP Suklabaidya spent time with the residents and assured them that all necessary support would be provided.

Later, the MP toured Saidpur Part 3, Noropoti Kalibari, and Salimabad under Leverputa GP of Katigorah LAC, Cachar. The MP boarded a boat to navigate the flooded areas and took stock of the ground situation. A former Cabinet Minister of Assam, MP Suklabaidya instructed the DC Cachar to implement urgent relief measures for the flood-affected people.

Speaking to the media the MP said, “On behalf of our party, we have been to the several flood-affected areas. We want to be with the people who are affected and along with the government we have made sure that we help the people. As an elected MP, I had been to the Parliament for my oath taking and it is the first time that I have come here to take stock of the situation. Before that, the other party members of Katigorah surveyed and visited the flood-hit areas and made sure we were with the people during their hard times”
