Love Jihad: Moral Police Beats Sonai Youth Brutally on 78th Independence Day

A shocking incident of alleged moral policing occurred in Sonai Narsingpur, Cachar, on Independence Day, where a young man was brutally assaulted by a group of around 14-15 individuals. The attack was reportedly carried out under the accusation of “love jihad.”

The victim, Ali Ahmed, a resident of Sonai Kajidahar, was tied to a pole and mercilessly beaten by the mob. The incident took place near a college in Narsingpur, where Ali had gone to meet a friend. The assailants allegedly confronted him, asked his name, and then began the assault.

During the attack, the mob also targeted a young woman who was with Ali at the time. She too faced the wrath of the attackers as they beat her in public. The entire incident was recorded on mobile phones by bystanders, who chose to watch rather than intervene.

The situation escalated quickly, and local residents reportedly did nothing to stop the attack. The shocking incident has raised concerns about the increasing incidents of moral policing in the region, which are often carried out under the guise of protecting cultural or religious values.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Sonai Police rushed to the scene and rescued the bloodied Ali Ahmed from the mob. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The police are investigating the matter and have vowed to take strict action against those involved.

Ali Ahmed, who survived the attack, stated that he did not know his attackers. He mentioned that they had accused him of “love jihad” and began beating him without any prior interaction. The young man is now recovering from his injuries, but the trauma of the event has left a deep impact.
