Madhyasahar Sanskritik Samittee's Platinum Jubilee Durga Puja to Feature Unique Laser Show

Madhyasahar Sanskritik Samittee, one of the oldest organisations in Silchar, is set to celebrate its 75th Durga Puja with grandeur. This Platinum Jubilee marks a significant milestone for the Samittee, which has been dedicated to preserving and promoting cultural heritage since its inception in 1949. The organisation is affiliated with the Assam Sangeet Natak Academy, District Sports Association, and Surnandan Bharati Kolkata, and has expanded its activities beyond just Durga Puja to include sports, cultural events, and social activities.

A special highlight of this year’s celebrations is a mesmerising light and sound show using LASER technology. The show will project the story of Maa Durga onto the pandal, offering a modern touch to the traditional festivities. The projection will be managed by a skilled team of engineers from Mumbai, making it a first-of-its-kind event in the Barak Valley and possibly the entire Northeast region.

Addressing the media, the Puja Committee highlighted the uniqueness of this year’s Durga Puja celebration, especially the introduction of a LASER show. They shared that the entire pandal would serve as the screen for the laser projection, narrating the story of Mahisasur Mardini. The Committee emphasised that this feature would be a first in the Barak Valley and possibly in the entire Northeast, adding a modern touch to the traditional festivities.

The Committee further stated that they are aiming to bring something new and exciting to the Puja celebration, encouraging everyone to attend and witness this innovative approach. They expressed their hopes that the public would enjoy the festivities and help make this Platinum Jubilee Durga Puja a grand success.

The pandal, designed as a replica of the iconic Victoria Memorial, will be set up in the Narsingtola Pond area. With a width of 140 feet and a height of 70 feet, it promises to be a visual treat for all devotees and visitors. The laser show will add to the splendour, transforming the entire pandal into a screen that will narrate the story of Mahisasur Mardini.

For three consecutive days, Mahaprasad will be served to all devotees and visitors, fostering a sense of community and shared devotion. The Samittee aims to make this Platinum Jubilee celebration a memorable experience for everyone, emphasising the importance of tradition and festivity.

A variety of food courts will also be set up, offering an array of traditional and contemporary delicacies. This will provide a delightful culinary experience for all attendees, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.

In addition to the laser show and pandal, the celebration will feature Prabhat Pheri (morning rallies) and a grand Vijaya Dashami procession. These events will showcase the vibrant culture of Northeast India, adding to the overall exuberance of the occasion.

Addressing the media, the Puja Committee emphasised the uniqueness of this year’s celebration, particularly the laser show. They invited everyone to attend the Puja, witness the new attractions, and be part of the historic 75th year celebrations.

The Madhyasahar Sanskritik Samittee, with its long-standing commitment to cultural vibrancy and community spirit, looks forward to welcoming all to this grand celebration. The Puja will not just be an event but a tribute to the rich cultural roots of the region, brought to life through music, art, and devotion.
