Katigorah Police Re-arrests Accused in Financial Fraud Case After Escape from Police Custody
Assam Police have re-arrested Gias Uddin, who was earlier taken from police custody by a mob in Katigorah’s Amtola Bazar. Along with Gias Uddin, his brother, Sahab Uddin, has also been arrested for his involvement in the escape.
The initial arrest occurred on August 31, when Katigorah police, acting on a financial fraud case, detained Gias Uddin during an operation in Amtola Bazar, near the India-Bangladesh border. However, while being transported to the police station, a mob of over 100 people, including his brothers, intervened and forcefully took Gias Uddin from the police vehicle.
During the incident, the mob grew agitated and aggressive toward the police and the complainants. Despite efforts to control the situation, the officers were forced to leave the area without the accused. However, they managed to rescue the complainant, Kawsar Uddin and safely left with him from the scene. In the aftermath, the complainant’s brother, Ali Hussain, was severely injured by the mob and taken to Katigorah Model Hospital for treatment.
The case against Gias Uddin originated from a complaint filed by Kawsar Uddin, a resident of Kalain’s Lakhipur, accusing him of financial fraud.
In a major breakthrough yesterday, the Katigorah police apprehended the accused in the financial scam case along with his brother, who obstructed an on-duty police officer. Both accused are now in Katigorah Police Custody.
