Border trespassing continues; Karimganj Police arrests a Bangladeshi infiltrator from Patharkandi

Acting on the basis of a tip off, Karimganj Police succeeded in nabbing down a Bangladeshi infiltrator, who illegally trespassed the border, and was residing in India. The Police ran an operation last night and arrested the infiltrator from Patharkandi area.
The infiltrator has been identified as Jashim Uddin, and is a resident of Gopalbari area in Sylhet district of Bangladesh. During interrogation, Jashim confessed that he trespassed the borders illegally when he was nine-year-old, and since last 20 years, he has been residing in Assam’s Hojai district. During his stay in Assam, he got several government identification cards issued on his name, which helped him in pretending to be an Indian citizen. Police officials have also recovered voter id card and a pan card from him.
He also shared that his father’s name is late Abdul Khalique, and they used to residei in Fultali Village in Lanka area. He faked his maternal uncle Kotai Miya, as his father, and on the basis of that got his name enlisted in the voter list.
Police is further investigating the matter and hopefully would get to know about others involved in this racket. Also, it’s crucial that the police finds out how Jashim Uddin managed to get so many government identification documents, despite being an illegal infiltrator.
