Trikal Chakraborty Saves Massive 12.9-Foot Cobra and 12-Foot Python in Two-Day Wildlife Rescue Feat

Wildlife enthusiast and conservationist Trikal Chakraborty, known for his dedication to rescuing snakes in the Cachar district, successfully rescued an 11.5 to 12-foot-long python in Srikona today. The rescue drew much attention from locals, as Chakraborty, with his team, carefully handled the sizeable reptile and released it back into its natural habitat.

The incident follows another challenging rescue he conducted just yesterday in Silchoorie, where he and his team captured a massive 12.9-foot-long king cobra. Despite the hazards involved, the Barak Valley Wildlife Division team managed the situation professionally, educating the community about the species’ role in the ecosystem.

Trikal Chakraborty, a graduate in Visual Arts from Assam University, has found his calling in wildlife rescue and conservation. Though trained in the arts, his passion for these “slythering creatures” has seen him take on rescues across the region, becoming a respected figure in wildlife preservation efforts.

Today’s rescue began with a distress call from Srikona, where he discovered the python. Chakraborty and his team arrived promptly, assessed the situation, and began the delicate process of securing the snake. The team’s experience and skill were evident as they expertly manoeuvred the python, ultimately ensuring its safety and that of the residents.

Chakraborty emphasises the importance of preserving these snakes, which play a critical role in maintaining ecological balance. He uses each rescue as an opportunity to educate locals about these often-feared creatures, dispelling myths and encouraging a respectful coexistence with wildlife.

For Chakraborty, who often encounters both venomous and non-venomous species, the risks are ever-present. King cobras, for example, are highly venomous and can grow over 18 feet, making his recent encounter exceptionally hazardous. Pythons, though not venomous, are powerful constrictors capable of overwhelming prey with their strength.

Yet, with every successful rescue, Trikal Chakraborty demonstrates the skills and courage needed to handle even the most intimidating snakes. Regardless of the danger, he remains committed to protecting these magnificent creatures and raising awareness about their importance in nature.

As of writing this report, another sighting of a dangerous wild snake has been reported in the Srikona region. Wildlife conservationist Trikal Chakraborty, undeterred by the back-to-back rescues, is already en route to the location to assess the situation and carry out another potential rescue.

Caution: If anyone ever encounters a dangerous snake or wild animal outside its natural habitat, it is crucial to contact the Barak Valley Wildlife Division immediately. Attempting to handle or disturb such creatures can lead to severe injuries and even fatal outcomes, as many wild animals can become defensive when they feel threatened.
