Temple Construction Resumes Near Indo-Bangladesh Border After Joint BSF-BGB Meeting

Work on building an old Manasha Temple, located on the banks of the Kushiara River in Sri Bhumi district, resumed today following a brief halt caused by objections from Bangladesh Border Guards (BGB).

Yesterday, the BGB raised concerns over the construction of the temple, temporarily stopping the work. However, a joint meeting between India’s Border Security Force (BSF) and the BGB was held to address the issue. After discussions, both sides reached an understanding, and the construction has resumed.

A representative of the temple committee expressed relief, stating, “Yesterday, the work of the temple construction got halted due to the intervention of BGB, and we were worried whether or not the work would resume. This is a very old temple site. Fortunately, our BSF and BGB had a joint meeting, and the matter got cleared. The temple construction will now resume.”

The representative further added that while the BSF assured them yesterday that work would resume soon, they were glad to see it happening today. “Today, we have completed some slight works. From tomorrow, the work will resume in full force,” he confirmed.

Recently, relations between citizens of India and Bangladesh have been strained. Incidents such as minority harassment, the arrest of a Hindu monk, and reports of the Indian flag being disrespected in Bangladesh have drawn critical attention.

The BGB’s initial objection to constructing the temple near the Indo-Bangladesh border was also viewed sceptically. However, the BSF and BGB’s prompt discussions ensured the project continued without further conflict.
